Metal blades and abrasive cut-off wheels are for cutting steel, rebar, pipe, and other metals. We carry blades for angle grinders, reciprocating saws, and circular saws so you can match the blade to your tool and material.
When to use metal blades
Use metal-cutting blades or abrasive wheels when the primary material you’re cutting is metal: rebar, steel pipe, sheet metal, or other ferrous and non-ferrous metals. For concrete that contains rebar, a diamond blade rated for “concrete and rebar” can cut through the rebar as part of the concrete cut—but for cutting rebar or metal alone, use a metal blade or abrasive wheel instead.
Blade types
- Abrasive cut-off wheels – For angle grinders and cut-off saws. Cut steel, rebar, and metal quickly. Replace when worn or damaged.
- Metal-cutting circular saw blades – For cutting metal with a circular saw or dedicated metal saw. Choose the correct diameter and arbor for your saw.
- Reciprocating saw blades – Bi-metal or carbide blades for cutting pipe, rebar, and sheet metal with a recip saw.
Diamond vs metal blades
Diamond blades are for concrete, masonry, and tile. Metal blades and abrasive wheels are for metal. Don’t use a diamond masonry blade for dedicated metal cutting—it can overheat and wear unevenly. We carry diamond blades for concrete and masonry and metal blades for steel and metal. Use each type for its intended material.
Safety
Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves when cutting metal. Secure the workpiece and keep hands clear of the blade path. Replace worn or damaged blades. For more help choosing, see our diamond blades for concrete work or contact us.
